Worlds collide and tragedy strikes as a missionary group journeys to the heart of the Amazon jungle in search of the Waodani, a tribe of fierce warriors on the brink of extinction due to revenge killings. When five of the missionary men are speared to death by a group of tribesmen led by a fierce warrior, their families are left husbandless and fatherless. Undeterred by their tremendous loss and spurred on by hope, the families decide to remain in Ecuador, and risk living among the Waodani. But the effects of that first encounter have yet to subside: A young boy, struggling to unlock the secret of his father's death, must learn to accept a tragedy he cannot change in this powerful, true story of sacrifice, courage and redemption.
My opinion.....
This movie was well presented and very thought provoking, well worth seeing.
Although it was screened at the public theatre, it felt like I was at a home movie showing, as there were so many people that I knew on the way to the theatre and again in the queue to get in.
At church we had a presentation from the local co ordinator of 'Operation Christmas Box' by the Samaritan's purse. Here's some info from their site http://www.samaritanspurse.org.au/occ_08_index.shtml
Operation Christmas Child is a unique project of Samaritan’s Purse that brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes.
It provides an opportunity for people of all ages to be involved in a simple but hands-on project that has the power to transform children’s lives.
In 2007, our teams in Australia and New Zealand delivered over 300,000 gift-filled shoe boxes to South East Asia and the South Pacific. Globally, Samaritan’s Purse distributed an estimated 7.6 million shoe boxes to children Samaritan’s in 105 countries.
As each shoe box gift is delivered, it is treasured by the child that receives it, and is a lasting reminder that he or she is precious to God.

I have participated in this operation before, and this morning I bought five boxes for my family to fill over the coming months.
