Willow Lake

Pictures from www.willowlake.com.au

In celebration of being a couple for 25 years, Mal and I have just had a weekend at Willow Lake. This venue has four private cottages and a fully licence restaurant. The attention to detail was incredible and the hospitality outstanding. Travis our chef, reminded me of Jamie Oliver with his passion for food and keen desire to satisfy the customers. His partner Sarina was front of house and we quickly warmed to her charming personality. This young couple are already excelling in their business and I wish them ongoing success.

More details??

On arrival the cottage had chilled wine and champagne, a basket hamper for breakfast rations including extras like chocolates, and ample fresh fruit. I loved the idea of cooking our own breakfast as then we didn't need to 'dress' for the occasion and could eat at whatever time suited. There was also two beautifully presented platters. One of selected cheeses, fruit and nut, speciality bread and a terrine [?]. The other had a mini choc. mud cake and home made biscuits and pastries.

Basically any need you could think of was catered for, candles, bird seed for the native wildlife, surround sound sterio, reading material, playing cards, robes, huge towels and pillows, etc..

Then the grounds were green and manicured including a swimming pool, a large natural pond, rose gardens, shaded verandah, and ample places to privately sit.

It was a great way to reflect on our marriage and to focus on our future.

Thank you for sharing some of your weekend getaway! The accommodation sounds similar to the 3 days we spent on our honeymoon in Launceston and a getaway hubby and I had in the Dandenongs last year. However! We didn't get a swimming pool.. and if we had wanted platters we would have had to have paid a LOT more for them as an 'extra'. I really loved having breakfast baskets too. We also didnt experience an inhouse restaurant like you mentioned with a person passionate about the food! We had to look for places to eat outside of brekky..and weren't always succesful in finding somewhere good. Willow Lake sounds like a place I'd love! Love those kinds of getaways.

Thanks Gail, this was a lovely post.
