Drought

The photo on the left was taken while on holiday in New Zealand in January 2007. In December, we had left North East Victoria in drought conditions and with bush fires blazing, and although we had expected New Zealand to be greener, we were blown away by the lushness of their pastures. After three weeks of travel we almost took for granted the abundance of water, and then we were hit with a bolt of reality as we passed over Victoria [photo above], when we flew home. In addition to this as we drove from Melbourne to home, we could see the red glow of the fires still well alight on the ranges, and of course, at home, the smoke still lingered. Lets hope for a really wet winter.
